The Origin of Our Name, Roger That

What's in a name? Apparently, rip-roaring comedy based on the first reaction we ever got when we shared the name of our new practice, Roger That Communications, with someone close to us.

The response gave us pause - would "Roger That" be taken seriously?

But the more we thought about it, the more it made sense. Here's why and a glimpse into the thinking that went into the name:

1. It’s memorable

People are familiar with the phrase, “Roger that,” and familiarity influences memorability.

2. It’s a solid message

The phrase means message received and understood and to expect results - a great message for clients.

3. It’s us

Beyond the obvious that it includes our founder’s name, “Roger that” also signals that clients are getting us and we’ll be there every step of the way.

4. It’s comms-related

The phrase has a rich communications history with meaning related to the job.

5. It’s fun

People like saying it, judging by the countless times we’ve gotten a “Roger that."

6. It’s got brand potential

“Roger That” provides a strong foundation for the values and associations we want to build around the business, strategy, and service (much more to share on branding in a later post).

Thanks to everyone who have had such a positive reaction to Roger That Communications. We definitely feel like we made the right choice with the name.🙂
